Orchiectomy - Feminization Surgeries

Orchiectomy
Under general or local anesthesia

Orchiectomy in transsexual women is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the testicles.

Gender Affirming Surgery

Through orchiectomy, we aim to eliminate the production of male hormones for better hormonal control in transsexual women who do not want to undergo a vaginoplasty or who plan to postpone it.

orchiectomy

What is orchiectomy?

Orchiectomy is a simple surgical technique, it is generally performed under regional or general anesthesia and basically consists of removing both testicles. With this procedure, male hormones and sperm will stop being produced permanently.

It is a highly requested intervention in transfeminine people for better hormonal control.

It can be associated with performing a scrotoplasty to regularize the area and prevent the persistence of the skin bag under the penis.

This scrotoplasty should only be performed on people who are never going to undergo a vaginoplasty, since otherwise we will lose the tissue necessary to create the labia majora and labia minora.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can undergo an orchiectomy?

Any trans woman who has decided to postpone vaginoplasty or who has decided never to have it can undergo an orchiectomy.

Can the scrotum area be regularized?

In the same intervention, orchiectomy and scrotoplasty can be performed to leave the area below the penis flat. It must be taken into account that once a scrotoplasty has been performed and if you want to do a vaginoplasty, the preparation of the labia majora and minora would be difficult, so a scrotoplasty should only be done in people who never want to undergo a vaginoplasty.

What complications are associated with orchiectomy?

The most common complication is inflammation or hematoma and both are resolved simply by waiting for the body to reabsorb them.
Major complications are very rare. It must be taken into account that orchiectomy is an irreversible process, which eliminates the production of testosterone and sperm.

Can I have biological offspring with my own genetic load after an orchiectomy?

No, once the orchiectomy is performed, sperm production ceases, so the possibility of having biological offspring with our own genetic load would not be possible.
Yes, sperm freezing can be performed prior to surgery to guarantee this possibility in the future.
